Dear Worldwide friends. Greetings and welcome to the Spring 2008 Worldwide School ex students newsletter. Winter has finished and it has been a terrible one of wet windy days but lots of snow on the mountains! However I think we are all looking forward to summer coming soon.

The new building.

Things have been going really well in the new building. We are very happy here. A few months ago we took some updated photos for the new brochure and the new website.

Good bye Fiona

Our wonderful Director of Studies, Fiona Wiebusch, left us at the end of July.

Fiona had to return to Australia to take care of her sick mother. We miss her very much and wish her well. (And hope that she will return as she did a few years earlier)

In Fiona’s place we have promoted one of our senior teachers, Ms Freya Harlen to the position of Assistant Director of Studies. John Putt our other DoS will continue as sole Director of Studies now.

Facebook!

Nice to see so many students and ex students are now members and using the Worldwide School pages to keep in touch and share information. If you have any ideas or comments about this please do not hesitate to tell us.

You can always see lots of photos from students, especially of the school events and parties…

More parties

July was a winter themed costume party.

September was Nations of the World.

TESOL + TKT PLUS Internship (and wonderful results from the latest TKT exam)

6 of our TESOL students took the TKT exam last month. The top score is 4 and it is very unusual

to receive a score of 4. One of our students did receive a score of 4 in two categories. (Congratulations Natalie from Brazil). All other students received scores of 3 in all categories. This excellent news

proves that Worldwide's TESOL + TKT is a great course.

For 2009 we have also developed a NEW option with our TESOL course.

This is TESOL + Internship The internship part will be 4 weeks at a local NZ Government school.

Students have the opportunity to practice the skills they have learned on the course by teaching young New Zealand students and also learning more about teaching from some of New Zealand’s best primary school teachers.

TESOL + TKT + 4 weeks internship = NZ$2900.

For more details please contact us.

Worldwide School School Soccer Team

In addition to regular parties we also have regular soccer games. Every Monday it is social soccer. Students and staff all join in.

In July our school team was challenged by another English School, AEA, to a game.

It was a great match but in the end there has to be one winner…

The Worldwide Soccer team – of course.

Worldwide School on You Tube

Please find an updated school video (with our new building) as well as video testimonials from some of our students here.

Hope you like our redesigned and modernized website?

In 2009 Worldwide School is 20 years old

Worldwide School was established in 1989. This means next year will be our 20th birthday.

We look forward to giving you news and information about how we will celebrate this.

As usual I welcome any news or comments back from you.

And don’t forget to keep using your English!

Yours

Cleve Brown
