Learning English in New Zealand
Profile

Worldwide School of English offers a great English language education at an excellent location in Auckland city. We are in mid city, near the harbour, shops, boats, bus station, train station, restaurants, theatres etc. We offer General English classes at 7 levels, Beginner, Elementary, Pre-Intermediate, Intermediate, Upper-Intermediate, Advanced and Proficiency and English for Academic Purposes (IELTS and TOEIC), FCE and CAE preparation classes as well as the Cambridge Business English Certificate (BEC) exam preparation classes and TESOL + TKT. Students are tested and placed carefully into their correct level on their first day at school. Students move up a level when they have shown competency at their level and are ready to move up.

Our classes have an average of 9 students (maximum of 14) which means students get a lot of individual attention. All General English class materials are provided free to the student. Our teaching methods are based on the most up-to-date communicative method of teaching English and are designed to involve students as much as possible in their learning. We create an enjoyable and warm learning environment in our classrooms. Our students are actively involved in communicating with the teacher and with each other. Students are expected to talk, give opinions and be involved in their learning as well as STUDY HARD.

At Worldwide School our students do not use only one textbook in class and students do not pay any extra for their General English study materials. We don't believe that the perfect textbook has ever been written and we like to choose the best possible lesson for every subject and to suit each different class. One textbook alone cannot provide this so each teacher has five, six or more textbooks that they can choose from to plan the perfect lesson for the student's needs. Teachers can also write their own lessons or make lessons using a newspaper article, a TV or radio show or a song, for example.

Each student receives their own folder to keep their lessons in and they must bring it to school everyday. It will provide a record of all that they have learned during their time at Worldwide School.

General English classes in the morning improve all aspects of student's English. Grammar, writing and reading skills and students also do a lot of listening and speaking practice. Teachers want students to be involved, to give opinions and ask questions.

General English classes in the afternoon concentrate even more on the fluency skills introduced in the morning classes. There is a lot of pair and group work discussions on many varied and interesting topics and exercises to improve listening skills used in everyday English. Every Friday afternoon we also have special conversation class, movie, or a cheap activity options.

Worldwide's teachers use the latest in teaching techniques and resources in a warm and caring environment. We believe in International (WORLDWIDE) English. We use material from USA, Great Britain, Australia and New Zealand. Our teachers are all qualified (with TEFL qualifications and University degrees) and experienced native-speaker teachers from many different countries. We have teachers from New Zealand, Australia, USA, Canada, Great Britain and South Africa. Our teachers are one of our biggest strengths and we are very proud of them.

In addition to our main General  and Academic English courses we offer our PLUS  Farm Experience , HELP/Au Pair, International Flight Attendant, Summer Sports, Environmental Volunteer,  Working Holiday Visa Support and Internship  programmes. We also offer a "COMBO Programme" combining study with travel at our partner schools in Napier, Christchurch and Queenstown.
