Do you want a farm experience or a farm holiday  in New Zealand?

At Worldwide School we offer TWO farm programmes.

Farm Experience or Farm Holiday.

Farm experience follows a 4 week minimum English course at Worldwide. At the farm students must work in return for food and accommodation.
Students need a minimum English level of Intermediate (level 4). If not we cannot guarantee a farm placement after arrival.

Farm holiday follows a 1 week minimum English course at Worldwide. At the farm students have a 1 week holiday with all included.

After the English course with us or during your holidays Worldwide School will arrange your farm experience or farm holiday.

Farm Experience programme:

You can choose what part of New Zealand you would like to visit, what kind of farm you would like to live on and how long you would like to stay, from three days to two weeks ( we cannot arrange a farm for more than 2 weeks. This is because as the farmer does not know you he will not accept a longer booking. However once at the farm and you are both happy you may be able to arrange an extension to your stay).

You need to be healthy and strong and able to help the farmer while you stay there. This option is not a holiday, it is an EXPERIENCE!

You must study a minimum of 4 weeks full time at Worldwide School before we will arrange your farm for you.
The Farm Experience placement fee includes booking one farm, arranging transportation and assisting with any problems.

Your English will continue to improve as you will be living and helping the family in the house, garden, paddocks or with the animals. It will be a unique and exciting experience.

Worldwide School provides membership in a farm help organisation, books one farm for you and arranges your transport. All this for a fee of $300 ($100 for each extra farm).

To be able to receive free food and accommodation in return for your work on the farm you will need a Working Holiday Visa.

Please also note that farm work is hard and can be dirty and unpleasant. You may be required to help outdoors in any

weather and/or to help with household chores. At times farm accommodation can be quite simple. It may be in farm

outbuildings such as caravans, barns or sheds. Also some farms ask workers to work independently/to work alone.

In such cases you have to be comfortable to work on your own.

Also many farms are in remote area where cars are necessary, and not so many of them have internet access for the farm workers.

The farmer reserves the right to ask the student to leave the farm if he/she cannot perform as required.

In cases where you have been unwilling or unable to do normal farming tasks Worldwide School will be unable to send you on to another farm.

Also, Worldwide School does not inspect or visit any Farm Experience farms therefore we are not responsible if you are not happy about the accommodation or food the farm provides.

Worldwide School arranges farm placements but the farms are not related to Worldwide School in any way and belong to a separate organisation.
Worldwide School will do their best to find a farm that is as near to the student’s requests as possible.

Farm HOLIDAY programme:

For the Holiday programme we use several special farms who are able to offer this unique option.

All these farms are able to offer an excellent week of activities and accommodation for international visitors.

1 week farm = 6 nights and 7 days = NZ$ 1045.00

Includes return transfers, accommodation, meals, horse riding, Low Ropes Challenge and a climbing wall, kayaking, sheep shearing, cow milking, feeding the animals and a trip off the farm to a local attraction…such as wine tasting and a visit to see bone carving and green stone carving.

PLEASE NOTE THAT BOTH OPTIONS ARE NOT POSSIBLE WHILE YOU STUDY. THE FARMS ARE NOT IN THE CITY AND ARE TOO FAR AWAY TO TRAVEL TO SCHOOL EVERY DAY.

Other costs are:

Usual administration, tuition and accommodation fees.

Farm holiday testimonial:

“I came back to Auckland after finishing another farm stay.

I had a very good time in farms.

Sue's family was very nice, food was delicious (especially sausage and eggs were yummy!!).

As you said, Sue was a very kind person and a good farmer.

She talked to me slowly and taught a lot of things.

She has understandings toward foreigners a lot.

I enjoyed real farm life.”                 Yuki Miyawaki 6/08/2007
