Dear Worldwide friends,
Greetings and welcome to the Winter 2010 Worldwide School ex students newsletter.
We hope you are well and healthy and using your English somewhere in the world.
We are now in the middle of Winter in Auckland which means the weather is mixed, wet, warm, sunny, cold - sometimes all in ONE DAY!!
Worldwide School Facilities
Not many schools in the world have facilities as good as Worldwide School. One of our special facilities is our Movie Theatre.
We have a large screen, surround sound speakers and REAL movie theatre seats!
This is used for classes giving presentations and watching movies. It is used on Monday morning for the new student orientation presentation and also every Friday afternoon as one of our Friday Afternoon Options. Movie with FREE POPCORN!!
FCE and CAE results
FCE and CAE students studying hard in our Library.
Students who studied with us for the March FCE and CAE exams did very well. 95% our students passed with several getting A's, most B's and a few C's.Well done to all. The next classes will have their exams later this month. Currently we have FCE and CAE classes preparing for the June exams. Good luck to them.
We are now accepting enrolments and processing off shore pretests for the September to December classes.
Cambridge Special 4 week Preparation Class
Due to the success of this class last year we will once again be offering a 4 week special class to help students who are wanting to do the 12 week FCE or CAE September to December classes.
This special class will run from 16th August to 10th September and is charged at regular General English tuition rates with free study materials.

New technology listening in our school library

Student listening to MP3 for listening study (next to old technology tape deck)
We are now in the process of updating our listening resources in our school library.
We used to have 200+ cassette tapes available for students to use.
However we are now converting as much as we can to MP3 players meaning the clarity of the listening is much better as well as easier for students to use. (Not as easy for us old people though!!)
Auckland has the world's fourth-best quality of living, while Wellington ranks fifth in the eco-city category
Auckland has the world's fourth-best quality of living, according to a new ranking dominated by European cities.
But in another ranking for eco-cities, Wellington beats out Auckland, ranking fifth worldwide.
In both categories, New Zealand cities sit at the top of the Asia Pacific, ahead of Australian contenders.
The 2010 Mercer Worldwide Quality of Living Survey was released today, ranking cities for overall quality of living based on political, socio-economic and environmental criteria as well as sanitisation, education and transport. The company also compiled a list of top eco-cities.
Spokeswoman Georgina Harley said in a statement to media that New Zealand cities had been recognised for having “quality housing close to the city”, “political stability” and “transport”.
Ms Harley also praised New Zealand cities' “wide selection of restaurants”.
Auckland ranked fourth while Wellington was judged 12th worldwide for quality of living.
RWC in 2011

Don't forget that in 2011 New Zealand will be holding the RUGBY WORLD CUP.
This will be a huge event with many people visiting from all over the world.
